Below you’ll find our applications, upcoming schedules, and pertinent documents. All adult role models/mentors must successfully complete Florida Department of Law Enforcement background checks in order to be trained and certified as youth advocates and role models.

Our adults’ mission is to develop relationships that positively impact our greatest resource: our youth. WIM focuses on building essential skills needed to become productive, confident and contributing residents of Pinellas County.

Women In the Making Modules

These are the topics we’ll discuss and explore this year.

FAMILY HISTORY

The goal of this module is to get each young lady to familiarize herself with her complete family history. It will be important for family members to participate in the documentation of their family history in order to provide a well-rounded experience.

THE ART OF ENTERTAINMENT

The goal of this module will be to present an enrichment opportunity in the area of the Arts. We will investigate the cultural and creative contributions of people of color and various ethnicities during this module.

BULLYING/CYBERBULLYING

This session will focus on the dangers of bullying and cyberbullying. Social media platforms, such as, mobile texting, Snap Chat, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and Periscope will be discussed. The young ladies will receive information about proper channels of reporting bullying as well.

STORY OF A PEOPLE

This session will emphasize the accomplishments of a diverse of group of people. The focus will be the study of different ethnic groups and contributions of each group, both past and present.

EDUCATION IS THE KEY

The focus of this module is to instill in our young ladies the power of education – that knowledge is power that cannot be taken away from them. Our young ladies will be reminded of the importance of a solid work ethic as a means of attainment. “Anything worth having is worth working for”.

DRESS FOR SUCCESS: YOU-BE-YOU

In this session we will provide our young ladies the opportunity to learn the importance of personal pride and appropriate attire. The focus will be on educating our young ladies on the diversity of outward appearance and the importance of inner confidence and strength.

A MEASURE OF A WOMAN/ETIQUETTE

In this session, we will present to the young ladies an opportunity to learn proper table etiquette, to include learning social graces, appropriate posture, and appropriate behavior in various settings.

CLOSING CEREMONY

This is our gala affair. This shall be the festive occasion that we have all been striving toward, the fruit of all of our labor. The ceremony will be the culmination of our program and we will have a public event for all our loved ones to attend.
