September 2018 Session
“Up, up, up on my way, Thank God I never settled, This view is so much better, I’m chilling, I’m winning like on another level.” Those are the lyrics to the song Level Up by pop artist singer, Ciara. The young ladies of Women In the Making decided to take on the Level Up challenge during their first module of the 2018-2019 program. They set three goals using S.M.A.R.T. steps to Level Up spiritually, academically, and personally.
To add more motivation to this module, Chief Anthony Holloway from the St. Petersburg Police Department came in and shared a few words of his own on “Leveling Up”. He encouraged the girls to sit in the front of their class with an attitude to learn, and to educate themselves with an emphasis on reading writing, and math. The presence of Chief Holloway opened an opportunity for WIM mentee’s to better gain an understanding of the law enforcement field, and other current police-civilian interactions and expectations.
