2022 November/December Sessions
During November, the mentees participated in a community service project with the League of Women Voters. The project was held at the Sanderlin Center community garden. The objective for the mentees was to learn about different species of plants and their characteristics. Each mentee and mentor were allowed to choose a plant and talk about it. We also learned about the native plants that grow here in Florida. Some examples of the plants were the American beautyberry, Black-eyed Susan, Fern native species, and Firebush. After learning about the plants, the mentees and mentors began to cultivate the area surrounding the plants.
Today’s exciting journey in Women in Making: we were introduced to the seven principles of Kwanza. We enjoyed a Christmas classic of a Charlie Brown on what Christmas really means. But the day would not be complete without crafts as we used creative minds to decorate wreaths. Truly a time enjoyed by all.
